Huanzhe Hu

Huanzhe Hu (b. 2000) is an interdisciplinary artist who works across sound, installation, and moving image. She received her MFA in Digital + Media from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Her practice focuses on potential perceptual and communicative relationships between human and non-human entities, examining how audiences may form empathy and intimacy with vast or unfamiliar natural phenomena at the level of perception. Grounded in long-term observation of environmental and material processes, her work employs sound-centered installations and moving image to translate subtle and often imperceptible transformations in nature—such as phase changes between ice and water, variations in atmospheric pressure, and minute shifts of light—into experiential perceptual structures. For Hu, art is not a representation of nature but a means of entering these generative processes themselves, through which perception is reorganized, translated, and expanded.

Her work has been exhibited internationally at SCFAl Art Museum (Chongqing), DEMO Festival (New York), and Loosen Art Gallery (Rome), and is held in the collections of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Art Museum and the Iceland University of the Arts.
