Melina Mageira
Melina Mageira (b. 2004) currently lives and works in London. Her work is an ongoing exploration of womanhood and the ways it is shaped, confined, and quietly subverted within contemporary society. Drawing from personal memories, emotional states, archival materials, and fragments of pop culture, she builds narratives that sit somewhere between the familiar and the uncanny. Many of her figures are informed by the women in her life — mothers, friends, teachers, and strangers — whose presence and absence continue to echo through her images.
