Lean Lui
Lean Lui is an artist and photographer based in Hong Kong. Her debut photography book, 19.29, was a finalist for the prestigious Beijing Three Shadows Photography Award. Her latest book, Aseptic Field (Setanta Books, London), has been featured by The Guardian, i-D, The Eye of Photography, and VOGUE. Another Magazine recognized it as one of the Best Photos of 2023, this series was also exhibited at the Goethe-Institut Hongkong in 2024.
Lean Lui’s images explore themes of sensuality, innocence and personal connection and the way these concepts, along with the ideas of seduction, intimacy and lust and undergo a slow process of contamination from the outside, transforming innocent fantasies, paradigms of perfection and purity into the disconcerting experiences of fear, desire, pain and isolation that we, as humans, inevitably encounter in an imperfect world.
