‘Such objects and images weren’t something I ‘designed’ in a rational sense—they emerged through the interplay of body, unconsciousness, and emotion.’

Petitalk: Liu Jin

‘A still image is just one form of that language—but ‘stillness’ isn’t some predefined answer or prompt; it can carry warmth, evoke memories, or capture present emotions. That’s why my work gives off a sense of reaching beyond the frame.’

Petitalk: Qiheng Chen

‘The orchid is not an object that exists for human beauty, utility, or symbolism, but a being that stands with us in the face of domestication, discipline, alienation, and ecological oppression.’

Petitalk: Mingjing Yu

‘As a third-generation industrial migrant, I see these rotating machines as metaphors for political decisions. People are wrapped in them, all caught in the whirlpool of history.’

Petitalk: Baixuan Chen

‘I seldom make detailed sketches in advance because I look forward to the response I get from the canvas when I put the image in my mind onto it.’
